Deleting a Company

Deleting a company permanently removes all of its data from Acusheet. This action cannot be undone.


Preconditions

Before you can delete a company, the following must be true:

You Must Be the Company Owner

Only the owner of a company can delete it. Admin users and team members do not have permission to delete the company, even with full admin rights.

If you are not the owner, you will not see the delete option in Settings.

There Must Be No Active Subscription

If the company has an active paid subscription (Plus or Premium), you must cancel the subscription first before deleting.

  • Go to Settings → Subscription & Billing
  • Cancel your plan
  • Wait for the current billing period to end, or proceed with an immediate cancellation
  • Once the subscription status shows as Cancelled or Expired, you can proceed

Free trial companies can be deleted at any time without needing to cancel a subscription.


How to Delete a Company

  1. Make sure you have a backup if you need to keep a record of your data — see Backing Up Your Company Data
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom
  4. Click Delete Company
  5. A confirmation dialog will appear — read it carefully
  6. Type your exact company name in the input field to confirm
  7. Click Delete permanently

The deletion will begin immediately.


What Happens After Deletion

Effect Detail
All company data is deleted Contacts, transactions, accounts, settings — everything
Team members lose access All users who were part of this company lose access immediately
The company no longer appears in your switcher It is removed from your account entirely
Subscription is terminated If any remaining paid period existed, it is forfeited
The action cannot be reversed There is no recovery option after deletion

If You Have Multiple Companies

Deleting one company does not affect your other companies. Your Acusheet account and all other company workspaces remain fully intact.


Alternatives to Deletion

If you are unsure about deleting permanently, consider these alternatives:

  • Archive transactions — Mark old records as inactive instead of removing them
  • Create a backup — Download a full data export before deleting, so you can reference it later
  • Start fresh within the same company — Contact support if you need help resetting specific data

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I recover a deleted company?
No. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. There is no way to recover a deleted company after the action is confirmed.

I cancelled my subscription but the delete option still isn't showing — why?
Your subscription may still be in an active billing period. Wait until the subscription fully expires, or contact support to expedite.

Can an admin delete the company if the owner is unavailable?
No. Only the owner can delete a company. This is a deliberate safeguard to prevent accidental or unauthorised deletion.

Will deleting my company cancel my subscription automatically?
No — you must cancel your subscription separately before deleting. An active subscription blocks the delete action.
