Recurring invoices let you automatically generate invoices on a schedule — ideal for retainer clients, subscriptions, rental income, or any regular billing.


Setting Up a Recurring Invoice

When creating or editing an invoice:

  1. Toggle on Recurring Invoice
  2. Set the recurring options:
Field Description
Interval How often — e.g. enter 1 for every period, 2 for every other period
Frequency The period unit — Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly
  1. Save the invoice as normal

Examples:

  • Every month → Interval: 1, Frequency: Monthly
  • Every 2 weeks → Interval: 2, Frequency: Weekly
  • Every quarter → Interval: 3, Frequency: Monthly

How It Works

After the invoice date, Acusheet automatically:

  1. Creates a new invoice based on the original
  2. Sets the correct invoice date and due date
  3. Assigns a new invoice number
  4. Saves it as a draft ready for your review

The next scheduled date is calculated from the previous occurrence using the interval and frequency you set.


Stopping a Recurring Invoice

To stop future invoices from being generated:

  1. Open the original recurring invoice
  2. Click Edit
  3. Toggle off Recurring Invoice
  4. Save

Editing a Recurring Invoice

  1. Open the original recurring invoice
  2. Click Edit
  3. Update any fields — including the recurring schedule
  4. Save

Edits only affect future generated invoices. Invoices that have already been created are not changed.


Viewing Recurring Invoices

On the Invoices list, recurring invoices are marked with a recurring icon. Filter by recurring to see all of them at once.


Frequently Asked Questions

Are recurring invoices created automatically even if I'm not logged in?
Yes. Acusheet generates them in the background on the scheduled date regardless of your activity.

Can I change the amount for a specific occurrence without affecting future ones?
Yes. Once a recurring invoice generates a copy, you can edit that individual copy without affecting the original schedule.

What happens if a recurring date falls on a weekend?
The invoice is generated on the exact scheduled date, including weekends and holidays.

Can I apply a different tax rate to recurring invoices?
Tax rates are inherited from the original invoice. Edit the original to change future occurrences.

How do I set an end date for the recurrence?
There is no end date field — simply toggle off Recurring Invoice when you want to stop the schedule.
